Does anyone know if you can get a kick-back on taxes for energy star purchases?

In 2006 we replaced our furnace and air conditioner with an energy star rated system as well as our windows. I heard there is up to $500 in tax credits for energy saving measures in Wisconsin. Is this true? How do I get this info? I have the proof of purchases, but what else might I need?

    It is a new credit.

There is a separate form for it (though I can’t remember the number).

Most preparers and the software programs should ask about it.

Tax breaks yes, “kick backs” no. Check with the IRS to be sure what the requirements are.

Yes. I happen to have this handy because I am getting quotes on H/AC at the moment and one of the salesmen mentioned the TAX break. Only available years 2006 and 2007 only.

    See government link below:

Yes. And it’s a tax credit (not deduction) of 10% of the cost.

I’m not sure if that would cover installation costs though (I’m thinking about getting some new windows, I’ll find out then).
